Automation is the key to simplifying many business processes. This is no different. You need a way to get collected data from contact forms or signup forms to your email marketing platform.
You might already be moving this data over manually. If that's the case, you'll already be well aware of how much of a time-consuming hassle that is. Not to mention the risks associated. All it takes is one little typo or forgotten character you copy over and suddenly the lead is gone.
There's no need to go about it this way. There's a much better alternative, which is what we want to talk to you about today.
Infusionsoft, newly renamed as Keap, is a popular alternative to many other email marketing platforms. That's why we wanted to make it simple for our users to use it in tandem with Formidable Forms on your site.
We'll be showing you a simple way to connect your WordPress forms to the Infusionsoft application to build an Infusionsoft contact form.
Zapier: A way to seamlessly link apps together
We will be using a Zapier connection to establish the link between Formidable Forms and Infusionsoft. However, using a third-party app is nothing to worry about. Zapier is an app trusted by thousands that simply establishes connections between applications. You can connect lots of apps, besides Formidable Forms.
That means for this connection to work, you'll need a Zapier account, a Formidable Forms Pro license, and an Infusionsoft account of course.
For this to be set up, you will also need to activate our WordPress Zapier plugin to connect your Infusionsoft account. First of all though, follow our simple setup guide.
Step 1 - Download and Install Formidable Forms
If you haven't already, you'll need to download and install Formidable Forms on your WordPress site. Head over to your Account page, download the plugin and then upload it through Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin on WordPress.
Activate your license key by copying it from your Account page and entering it into WordPress once Formidable is installed.
When Formidable Forms is set up, you can start building Infusionsoft contact forms on your WordPress website.
Step 2 - Build an Infusionsoft contact form
In order to capture leads through form entries on WordPress, you will need to build a form that can take in new form entries for this purpose. You could either set up a simple contact form or a newsletter signup form.
If you don't already have a form you wish to use with Infusionsoft, you will need to build a form. Either use our drag and drop form builder or one of our handy templates to create a lead generation form.
Step 3 - Active the Zapier integration
Once Formidable Forms is up and running on your WordPress site, it's time to connect it to Zapier.
To do this, you need to install our WordPress Zapier plugin. You can find this in your WordPress dashboard → Formidable → Add-ons → Zapier. Install and activate Zapier from there.
Next, you need to give us access to your Zapier account. You need to find your Formidable API key through Formidable → Global Settings → API. Copy your API key and head over to Zapier.
Step 4 - Create a zap between Formidable and Infusionsoft
Now it's time to start using Zapier and Formidable Forms together.
In Zapier, all their integrations between apps are called 'Zaps' for short. This means you'll need to 'make a zap' between Formidable Forms and Infusionsoft.
Do this by logging into Zapier and find the 'Make a Zap' button in your top right hand corner.
Step 5 - Set Formidable Forms as your Trigger App
In Zapier, you need a Trigger App and an Action App. All this means is that whatever happens in the Trigger app, will trigger a result/action in your Action App.
In this case, you want a new form entry in Formidable Forms to trigger a new lead in Infusionsoft.
New form submission → Creates new form entry → Creates new contact in Infusionsoft.
To choose Formidable as your Trigger App, go to Zapier's dashboard and search for Formidable Forms. Select it and then you'll be given a list of possible triggers including 'New Entry'. Select 'New Entry' as your trigger.
You'll then be asked to Connect an Account in order to link Formidable Forms with Zapier. This will bring up a popup where you'll be able to paste your Formidable Forms API key and site URL.
Step 6 - Set Infusionsoft as your Action App
Same as above, but instead of Formidable Forms, you'll need to find Infusionsoft and select that as your Action App.
Once you've done that, you'll be given a list of options including 'Create/Update Contact', 'Send Email'. To set up the form entry as a new contact, select 'Create/Update Contact' as your Action.
Step 7 - Map your form fields
In order for the data transfer to occur accurately, there's still another important step in the setup process. You need to map your form fields to specific fields in Infusionsoft. For example, you'll need to map the 'First Name' field in Formidable with 'First Name' in Infusionsoft.
If you don't do this you could have a list of contacts with First name: firstname.lastname@example.org and Email address as a name or contact number instead. If your contact details aren't copied over correctly, you'll struggle to send your leads any emails.
Don't skip this part otherwise you might end up having to manually change every one. That means no time saved for you.
Once you've done this, you will have a fully working link between Formidable Forms and your Infusionsoft email list.
Step 8 - Start building your Infusionsoft email list
Now, with an Infusionsoft contact form, you can start sending out marketing emails without the hassle of having to add someone to a campaign yourself. Your Infusionsoft web forms will be able to effectively pull in leads all from one simple step, thanks to our integration.
