Getting Started with Timeline Views

Creating your first timeline is simple. When you're ready to add a new view to display your form data, you'll now see Timeline as a brand-new option in the view type selector. Just click on Timeline and you're ready to start building your chronological story.

Set Up Your Timeline Data in Minutes

Timeline Views makes connecting your form data incredibly straightforward. Right after selecting Timeline as your view type, you'll see the "Customize view" step where you can map your form fields to timeline elements.

This initial setup gets you started quickly, but don't worry if you're not sure about your choices yet - you can always adjust these settings later. 

Once your view is created, you can fine-tune these mappings anytime through the Timeline Settings panel in the view editor.

The Card Content Order setting lets you arrange how title, description, thumbnail, and date elements appear in each timeline entry. Simply drag and drop the elements in your preferred order and hit save!

Make Your Timeline Spacing Feel Natural

Want your timeline to reflect real time relationships? Simply check the Natural Timeline option in your settings to automatically adjust spacing between events based on actual date differences.

You can also control how dates appear by choosing between "Year Only" for broad historical timelines, or "Custom" formatting for detailed event schedules. The date format settings appear right below your field mappings for easy access.

Keep Long Timelines Easy to Navigate

When you're working with extensive timelines that span multiple years or contain many events, Timeline Views has you covered. You can enable the Add Dividers option to automatically group your entries and make long timelines much easier to follow.

Simply choose to separate by year or month, and Timeline Views creates clear visual breaks without any extra work from you. This feature is perfect for company histories spanning decades, educational content covering extended periods, or any timeline where organization makes the difference between confusion and clarity.

Add Interactive Popups for More Details

Enable the Show Details Popup option to let visitors click timeline entries for expanded information. Instead of redirecting to separate pages, details appear in an elegant overlay that keeps users engaged with your timeline.

This creates a smooth user experience where visitors can dive deeper into any entry without losing their place in your timeline story.

Choose Your Perfect Timeline Style

Select Your Theme

Timeline Views offers four beautifully designed themes to match any design aesthetic. Simply select your preferred theme from the dropdown in the Style Settings panel to instantly transform your timeline's appearance.

Choose from Light Theme, Dark Theme, No Background Theme, or Life Events Theme to find the perfect match for your content and website design.

Pick Your Layout

Below the theme selector, you'll find four layout options to match how you want to tell your story:

• Vertical Alternating - Events appear on both sides for balanced presentation
• Vertical Right - All events positioned on the right side
• Vertical Left - All events positioned on the left side
• Horizontal Alternating - Events alternate above and below the timeline
• Horizontal Top - All events positioned above the horizontal timeline
• Horizontal Bottom - All events positioned below the horizontal timeline

Customize your Colors

Want to match your brand colors perfectly? The Style Settings also include comprehensive color customization options. You can adjust the timeline line color, event marker colors, background colors, and text colors to create a timeline that seamlessly integrates with your website's design. 

Customize Your Event Markers

You can personalize how events appear on your timeline by selecting from three marker styles in the Style Settings. Choose Numbers for sequential ordering, Dots for a clean minimal look, or Images to add custom visual elements that match your brand.

When using image markers, you can select from Small, Medium, or Large sizes to perfectly fit your timeline design.
