Create a custom application
Instead of using a template, select existing forms and views, or create an empty application and assign forms and views as you build them.
Create an empty application
- Go to Formidable → Applications and click Add New at the top of the page.

- Give your custom application a name and select Create empty application to start building it.

- Click the Add Item button to start creating your application.

- Choose whether to add a form, view, or page to your application.

- To build a new form, click New form. It opens the form templates page, where you can start a blank form or choose a template.
- To add forms you already have, click Existing form. Search for a form (1), check each form you want (2), and click Next (3).

- (Optional) Click + Create a new page next to an item to make a page for it. The page is created as a draft, so publish it when you're ready.

- Click Done. The forms now show on the application page.
Create an application from forms and views
- Go to Formidable → Applications and click Add New at the top of the page.

- Give your custom application a name and select Add existing forms and views to start building it.

- Search and select from the list of forms that you want to add to your application. After choosing your forms, click the Continue button.

- If you have the Visual Views add-on installed, search and select from the list of views you want to add to your application. After choosing your Views, click the Continue button.

- (Optional) Click + Create a new page next to an item to make a page for it. The page is created as a draft, so publish it when you're ready.

- Click the Open Application button to go to the new application. It lists all the forms, views, and pages you added.

Create an application from template
When you create an application from a template, the new application is a duplicate of the selected template. If your customizations go wrong, you still have a working application to start from.
- Go to Formidable → Applications and look for the Application Templates section.
- Search the application templates for the one you want.

- Hover over the template and click the + Add button next to its name. A preview of the application opens.

- Click the Install Application button.

- Give your new application a name and click Install Application again.

- (Optional) Click + Create a new page next to an item to make a page for it. The page is created as a draft, so publish it when you're ready.

- Click the Open Application button to go to the new application. It lists all the forms, views, and pages included with the template.

Import and export an application
Import an application
To import an application, go to the Formidable → Import/Export page and import the forms and views in an XML format.
Export an application
Export an application to save your forms and views for backup or transfer. Use either method below.
- Export via Import/Export. Go to the Formidable → Import/Export page and choose which forms and views to export in an XML format.
- Export directly from the application. Select your preferred application and click the Export button on that page to start exporting.

Delete an application
Delete an application with the delete icon or the delete link. Both open the same Delete Application prompt. By default, only the application is deleted, and its forms, views, and pages stay on your site.
Use the delete icon
To delete an application using an icon, go to the Formidable → Applications page and click the Delete icon on the application.![]()
Then confirm in the prompt, as in step 3 of Use the delete link.
Use the delete link
To delete an application using a link:
- Click the View all applications link from the My Applications section.

- Click the Delete link right below the application name.

- In the prompt, click Delete Application to confirm. Leave Remove child forms, views, entries and pages from database as well unchecked to keep the forms, views, and pages. Only the application that groups them is deleted. Check it only if you want to delete those items and their entries too.

Update an application
To update an application, click it on the Applications page, or click the View all applications link to see all your applications. Then add, edit, or remove an item.
Add item
Click the Add Item button at the top of the page. Create a new form, view, or page, or use an existing one.

Edit item
Hover over the item and click the Edit link below its name. For example, if the item is a form, the link opens the form builder.

Remove item
Hover over the item and click the Remove from application link below its name. The item is removed from the application but stays on your site.

Add a form from the forms list
You can also add a form to one or more applications from the Formidable → Forms list, without opening each application.
- Go to Formidable → Forms. In the Application column, click + Add next to the form.

- In the Add to Applications window, choose one or more applications from the Applications dropdown. It only lists the applications the form isn't in yet. Click outside the list to close it.
- Click Add to Applications.

The Application column updates right away. If the form is already in every application, the window offers a Go to Applications button instead, so you can create a new application.
Embed an application
Embed a form or View in a page from the application detail page. The Embed button shows for forms and views that aren't embedded in a page yet.
- Select existing page: Select a published page and click Insert form (or Insert view). You're taken to that page, with the Formidable Gutenberg block for that form or view added at the end. Move the block to the right position. Then save the page.
- Create new page: Enter the name for the new page and click Create page. The Gutenberg block for that form or view is added to the new page. The new page is saved as a draft, so publish it when you're ready.
- Insert manually: Show shortcodes for the form or View with a link to instructions.
