Troubleshooting
Destination folder already exists
This error message is displayed when the folders used by Formidable already exist, preventing a new installation from creating them. This can happen if you already have Formidable Forms Pro installed, or if a previous installation of Formidable Forms Pro was interrupted and/or unsuccessful.
Please navigate to the Plugins page of your WordPress dashboard and remove any existing instance of Formidable Forms Pro that you see there.
If you do not see any instances of Formidable Forms Pro on your Plugins page, you will need to manually remove the files so that a fresh install can proceed. To manually do this:
- Use the file manager system in your hosting control panel or an FTP client.
- Go to the wp-content/plugins folder and find the formidable-pro folder.
- Delete the entire formidable-pro folder.
- Once that is done, clear any caches on your site, then try re-installing Formidable Forms Pro.
Download failed. Unauthorized
If you attempt an automatic plugin update on your site, and receive the message that the update failed, the solution is usually simple. Most of the time, this means the site you are trying to update has not been authorized on your license.
- Go to your Formidable → Global Settings page.
- Click Enter New License.
- Insert your license key and click the Save License button.
- Return to your plugins page and try the update again.
- If the update still fails, go to the WordPress Dashboard → Updates page and try the update from there. This page will include more detail about why the update is failing.
- You will see a long url used to download the plugin. Paste that link into your browser (without the trailing ...). What message do you see?
If the download works with no problem, your site may be blocking communication with our site. how to whitelist our IP.

Requires Formidable Forms to be installed
Please note that since version 3.0, Formidable Forms Pro requires Formidable Forms Lite to be installed. Both plugins must be active on your site and are designed to run side by side. Formidable Forms Lite should install automatically along with Formidable Forms Pro, but if for any reason this does not happen you can manually install Formidable Forms Lite.
The easiest way to install Formidable Forms Lite is to follow the steps below:
- Go to your WordPress Dashboard → Plugins page.
- Click Add New and search for Formidable.
- You can click Install directly from the results on that page.

- On your WordPress Dashboard → Plugins page, deactivate and delete both Formidable Forms and Formidable Forms Pro. Note: All your existing forms data will remain intact. You will not lose any data by following this procedure.
- Install and activate new copies of both Formidable Forms and Formidable Forms Pro.
- If your forms are working correctly, reactivate your security plugin.
