Looking for a way to create ActiveCampaign WordPress forms? If you want to integrate ActiveCampaign with WordPress forms, here’s how!
ActiveCampaign is one of the best marketing, CRM, and email platforms on the market today. Their built-in forms are fine - but sometimes you just need more options.
In today’s article, we are going to show you how to truly integrate ActiveCampaign with WordPress forms. That doesn’t mean installing the official ActiveCampaign WordPress plugin by the way!
We are going to introduce you to a WordPress form builder that has the best ActiveCampaign add-on out there. We’re talking about Formidable Forms, a form maker plugin for WordPress with 300,000+ users.
Full disclosure, Formidable is our plugin - so we are biased when we say our WordPress ActiveCampaign plugin is the best. But here’s the thing: we actually use ActiveCampaign to run our entire marketing automation system. So naturally, you can be sure our ActiveCampaign add-on is as good as it gets.
Want to learn how to integrate ActiveCampaign forms into WordPress? We’ll show you how to do one better. We’re going to show you how our add-on can tap your WordPress forms into ActiveCampaign directly and seamlessly.
Let’s get into it!
What is ActiveCampaign?
ActiveCampaign is an email marketing and marketing automation tool with CRM and sales tracking features built-in. But let’s face it, if you are here, you probably already knew that.
However, ActiveCampaign isn’t just for email marketing. You can use it with a whole host of other things such as CRM systems, sales departments, and messaging.
And web forms are the starting point for a lot of automation. So as much as we love ActiveCampaign (which is a lot), their forms are a bit light in terms of options. No worries though, we’ll show you how to completely overcome that challenge.

Why use an external form builder with ActiveCampaign?
Using ActiveCampaign alongside WordPress is a great way to do more with your website. But you can go even further when you use it alongside Formidable Forms.
With Formidable Forms' ActiveCampaign add-on, you can link up your ActiveCampaign account to create high-converting web forms. You’ll be able to create contact forms & newsletter signup forms with double opt-ins, for example. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
ActiveCampaign forms by themselves don’t have the same form building options that a full-scale form builder does. And you know what? A form builder will never have the marketing automation power that a tool like ActiveCampaign has.
With a plugin like Formidable Forms, you’ll can do what the default forms in ActiveCampaign just can’t do. Different form types, inline forms, conditional logic within forms, multi-step forms... the list goes on and on.
We don’t need to drag this out though. You are probably here because you realize that the forms in ActiveCampaign aren’t the perfect solution. So let’s cover one more detail then we’ll show you how easy it is to connect Formidable and ActiveCampaign.
Why not just use the official ActiveCampaign WordPress plugin?
The official WordPress plugin of ActiveCampaign is great. It will allow you to deploy site tracking and allows your ActiveCampaign forms to function properly. But here’s the deal: not everyone uses site tracking. More than that, the trouble with site tracking is that it could slow down your site considerably.
Besides, you want to create some more powerful form solutions for your site, right? The ActiveCampaign plugin won’t be a part of that anyways.
If you really want to use an ActiveCampaign form, it’s not too hard without the plugin. You can copy the form code and paste it into your site after you’ve created a form in ActiveCampaign.
And if you really want to have ActiveCampaign tracking on your site, you can manually install the code into your header. Over even better, just install it on the pages you need tracking on!
Step 1 - Install Formidable Forms
The very first step is to install our WordPress forms plugin, Formidable Forms.
To do this, download Formidable Forms from your Account page and upload it to WordPress in order to install it. Then, simply activate the plugin and you'll be ready to start using it.

Once ActiveCampaign is installed, it’s time to set up the link between it and Formidable Forms.
First of all, go to Formidable’s Global Settings and then click on ActiveCampaign.
In another tab, go to ActiveCampaign’s website and log in to your account. In Settings and under Developer, you should see an API URL and an API key.
Copy the ActiveCampaign API URL and key and paste them into the related boxes on Formidable Forms.
These two apps should now be linked up and you're ready to start creating ActiveCampaign forms in WordPress.
Step 4 – Create an ActiveCampaign form
If you have already got a form you wish to use with ActiveCampaigns, open it with the form builder. Alternatively, create a new form for this purpose.
Once you’ve got a form ready to go, head over to Settings at the top of the form builder.
Click on Actions and Notifications on your left. You should see an icon for ActiveCampaign under Email Marketing. Click on that. This will add an ActiveCampaign form action to your form.
For easy reference, give your new ActiveCampaign action a Label.
Step 5 – Select your ActiveCampaign list
The next thing to do is select the ActiveCampaign list you wish to use.
Connect all the fields from your form with ActiveCampaign fields. It’s important to map all of the required ones in order for the form to work.
