Do you need an easy eCommerce form solution for your WordPress site? Check out the Formidable pricing fields!
Until now, eCommerce form fields were not a built-in feature in Formidable. Adding pricing fields required custom coding and extra work.
Not impossible, but not as formidable as we’d like.
All that changes now. The pricing features allow for quick and easy eCommerce forms. Calculations can be automated and currencies can be formatted.
The result? A seamless user experience rivaling any eCommerce platform. You can complete transactions instead of only collecting leads!
Who benefits from eCommerce form fields?
In the fast-paced world of eCommerce, time is money. Online business owners need a way of collecting payments easily. They want their online stores to look good and work well.
And they want to do this without a ton of effort.
With this set of features, collecting money can be quick and painless. When combined with our Views, the eCommerce possibilities are endless.
Formidable users can build mobile-friendly eCommerce order forms that make the checkout process simple as pie.
This update has brought Formidable into a new era. And although there are a lot of ways to use an online form, we are proud to say Formidable is an eCommerce form plugin for WordPress!
Pricing fields: more than an eCommerce solution
There are many eCommerce WordPress plugins available today. Those are great, but they only focus on taking online orders. Formidable's pricing fields can do much more:
- Calculation Forms
- Quote Calculators
- Estimation Calculators
With the pricing fields, Formidable can be used as a cost calculator plugin. You can turn any WordPress form into a price calculator!
Quote and price estimation forms are useful tools. They give your clients an idea of the cost calculation for your product or service. These forms can act as lead generation tools all by themselves.
Why add pricing fields to Formidable now?
Over time, we realized that our users might need to install 2 or 3 more plugins just to manage eCommerce. Unless you were a pro developer, this was the reality.
Speaking of pro developers, they'll tell you that currency, pricing, and calculations are tricky things to code.
For starters, decimal places in calculations don’t work well in all browsers. What’s more, adding a currency symbol isn’t as straightforward as one might think.
That’s why we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make the eCommerce dream come true. It’s taken time, but we are proud of the results.
As a WordPress form builder plugin, we've been a leader for years. With better eCommerce features, we're very excited about the future!
Overview: the pricing fields
Pricing fields include 3 field types: Product, Quantity, and Total. All pricing values are displayed in the currency of choice (as set in the Global Settings).
The currency option also includes a hook to allow custom code to change the currency per form.
The product field
Product fields can be displayed as radio, checkbox, dropdown, free text, or a single set value. The radio, checkbox, and dropdown options allow you to add a list of products with their prices. These can then be selected while filling out the form.
The User Defined option is great for donation forms. With free text, your site visitors can enter the amount they choose.
When you select the Single Product option, the product name and price will show in the form in a read-only way. This is perfect for forms with only one product that should automatically be selected any time the form is submitted.
The quantity field
Quantity fields allow users to easily choose how many products they want.
The total field
Total fields automatically calculate all the products and quantities in the form. They can also be used in custom calculations.
With these eCommerce features, the future of Formidable is even brighter. We hope these features will help you save time, remove extra plugins, and earn new customers.

Is there a way to limit the number of available products? For example, if I'm offering an online course where I'll be having a lot of 1-on-1 interaction with my students, and I want to limit the number of seats in that class (so I don't end up overwhelmed by the time needed for the 1-on-1 interaction with students), is there a way to do that?

Yep, no problem. Here's more info:
I think you mean something like what is covered here:
or if you want to allow multiple signups per slot, but limit it to say... 2 each, use this here:
We added this code to our theme's functions.php file and if you just put in the field ID(s) to limit, and the number of submissions allowed, and it works great! Perfect for limiting how many times people can sign up for a time slot for an event.

How does this work on the payment gateway side? How does it integrate? Some clarification would be useful.

But this has a very relative utility, to make a purchase in correct conditions, the customer has to enter their data, depending on the place of the customer requires a different type of taxes and many other issues that takes into account woocommerce and that I do not think is have taken into account in this new functionality. So I don't think it can be used to replace woocommerce. I would even say that you cannot make purchases correctly with just these features.
It's a big jump forward, but still, would need further ability to do what a full-fledged e-commerce suite like WooCommerce can do... This isn't tracking inventory, calculating tax/shipping, etc... but it is great for small purchases with flat shipping fees. You can also do the Math feature to calculate some of the things dynamically: https://formidableforms.com/knowledgebase/math-calculations/
I've used that in a text field as the default value and it calculates great.
Fantastic work, Formidable team! Ease of pricing was the last holdout built-in feature that I missed from Gravity, but this looks super simple to use and will cut down on dev time. Thank you for the update!

Amazing Stuff, this tie-up with Syed Balkhi and the launch of things with 10 years anniversary is all good news for us customers 🙂
Only thing remaining is making appointments/booking field(s) like people can select date on a calendar and then linked time for that date and then blacking it out as blocked/reserved. Of course being able to display it beautifully in views. I believe those things will take Formidable to a whole new level, nevertheless, congratulations on pricing fields.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it! Did you see we have a booking integration?
I can see this as an option next WooCommerce for selling special products. Easy to setup. It would however be great if it could be integrated with WooCommerce payment gateways.

This is awesome! Any chance you are going to add a coupon code option? Like usage limits, usage stats, % vs flat discount, specific to form, specific to product?

This is a great addition to a really great plugin. We use forms in our woocommerce products which help harvest extra information and allow email actions otherwise not possible.
Unfortunately our store is quite complex:
Per user pricing to accommodate different territories and purposes.
Deposits and subscriptions (automated monthly payments)
Earlybird rates (sales)
Its unlikely all these features will ever be accommodated in Formidable as its not essentially a shop plugin but one can hope...
Thanks for a great and really useful plugin.

Very very very nice! Excited to play around with it! Next will be calendar slots + price per day or hour within a day, so that we can create an airline booking platform in minutes. ??

So that we won't rely in woocommerce only if we want to create a simple e-commerce solution. ?
