Version 2.0 of Formidable Forms is amazing in every way. We have so many new features in this release, there is no way to list them all. Since there are so many changes in this version, Jamie wrote a post on things to know before updating. We recommend taking a quick look before updating to help ensure everything goes smoothly. Here are a few of our favorite new features that make Formidable Forms, well...more formidable.
Improved User Experience
We have enhanced every page and action within the plugin to make building and managing forms easier than ever. The user interface ties perfectly into your WordPress admin panel so using Formidable Forms feels no different from using WordPress. You will love the hundreds of tweaks and enhancements that make complex forms easier. For example, instead of deleting forms completely, you can now move them to the trash just like with your WordPress posts and pages.
New Field Types
Embedded Forms, You can now place one form within another. This is great if you create many different forms that contain many fields in common. Just add the "Embed Form" field to your form and select which form. It's that easy.
Confirmation Fields. Okay, this isn't actually a new field type, but an option for email and password fields. Just select if you want your confirmation field inline or below your field and we'll do the rest. With a confirmation field, both values must match before the form can be submitted.
Repeatable Fields. Ever needed a set of fields to repeat within your form? With our new repeating sections, you can easily add a set of fields that can be filled out multiple times. See it in action:
New Shortcode Builder
A new and improved shortcode builder allows you to add Formidable content to your pages and posts. Just select what you want to add, set the options and click the "insert" button.
You can currently add Forms, Views, Graphs and Entries to your site using the shortcode builder, but we love using this new tool so much that we have big plans to add more options and functionality in the future.
Emails and Form Actions
The email interface has been completely overhauled. Easily add CC and BCC or add a reply-to address. In addition to the new email interface, all form actions are now in the same place making it is easy to see if your form is sending out 3 emails, creating a post, and sending the user to PayPal.
Visual styling templates
The Visual Styling page is one of the features that sets Formidable Forms apart. Users have always loved being able to style their forms without needing any code. In 2.0 we are introducing styling templates. You can now create as many different style templates and assign them to your forms allowing for different forms to use different templates. We have also added more form elements to the visual styler so you have even more control over what your forms look like.
Improved Free Version
The free version of Formidable Forms available on the WordPress Repository has also been beefed up with more field types, access to form entries, and access to the visual styler to make it perfect for all basic forms.
This update is available for free to all license holders via auto-update. NOTE: If you are running a beta version of 2.0 (2.0b4-2.0rc10) you will need to manually update to version 2.0 due to an issue in the aut0-update software. If you are running a beta version or having trouble with the auto-update feature, Instructions for manually installing the plugin can be found here: https://formidableforms.com/knowledgebase/install-formidable-forms/
